http://www.livemocha.com/, Mangolanguages.com, and Wikibooks.org are all websites that offer the opportunity to learn new languages. Out of the three, I liked Mangolanguages better than the other ones.
Before I even registered, I was given the option to try it first before making a commitment to it. Of course, the problem lies that after the free trial, you have to register. (It is free, so if you are serious about learning a new language this won't be an issue). But what really made a big appeal of this website as opposed to the rest was the simple design of the website and constant repition.
I tried livemocha, and it is similar to a social network only that here you make friends of people that will help you learn the language much faster.
And the problem with the wiki is that anyone can edit the content, so it is not always the most reliable source. Think of this website as an online textbook that teaches you another language.
I am interested in learning Japanese, so I will pay these websites enough visits to see whether they help me or not. I shall keep you all posted on my progress.
