What does Library 2.0 mean to me?
At first just from reading the articles mentioned on the discovery exercise, I started to think outside the box.
Initially I thought that it was just keeping up with the times by using technology to our advantage. But it is more than that, it is also changing the way we think and making it fit into the way we work. We have gone to the times where you had to go to the library to look for a book and if not there ask a librarian to place a hold on your behalf. Now this can be done without ever setting foot outside the door. We don't limit ourselves to just one library either, we can network and get ILL's to get materials from across the country, further adding to the list of resources at our disposal. Our mindset has gone from "how can I help someone in my town get the desired material" to "how can I get this to someone across the country". Now that our way of thinking has changed, our manner of work changes as well. Ideas are taken into consideration in order to reach that need.
Library 2.0 is the usage of technology to further promote the sharing of ideas, the exchange of knowledge, and a virtual arena where minds come together to discuss or agree on any subject. This is what Library 2.0 is to me.
