Week 7: #16 So what's in a wiki?

Wikis are good ways of keeping up with the times, following the general statement expressed by people from all over the world. I enjoy looking through Wikipedia and it does provide a lot of information concerning any given topic, but I don't always take it to heart.

Just as I can edit the information, so can other people that don't necessarily share the same opinion as mine. As a research tool it is not recommended; but as a general outlook on any subject it is a good source.

What types of applications within libraries might work well with a wiki?

I was looking at BookLoversWiki, and they have a very good use for a wiki. They have created a wiki for book reviews, and it was actually an idea that our library system could start as well. I know that there are many books out there that I would love to read, but I don't know if I would like them. With a review and good valid points from the readers, I would be able to make a better choice.
