As a young kid, I used to play Pac Man. I could not get enough of it. I find it funny that even now I can play difficult games and pass them with no problem, but still can't manage to make it past the first five levels in Pac Man. What skills do I have from playing this over those who have not? I would say that beside the eye to hand coordination, I don't have much else. The games of the past were not as complicated as they are now, but the fun factor was still very high.
For the library, I would recommend the Nintendo Wii. I am not saying that because it is the most affordable system available, which is another good reason to get it, but also because this games requires the players to engage in physical activities. Once they are done playing and need to take a break, they can sit down and read a quick book or magazine while they wait for their turn. And is so easy to use that even people that do not play video games will be attracted to it.
After playing a sports games, it may even awaken the person's desire to read a little bit more about that game, or anything else that relates to gaming. And here people thought that a library only had books...
